Safe and Compliant Services for Historic and Heritage Sites
Historically sensitive sites require specialist on-site expertise. That is why LAR’s distinguished reputation has been called upon to undertake high-value asbestos removal work in some of the UKs most culturally significant buildings.
We are adept at handling projects that demand the preservation and enhancement of historical structures. Our team is skilled in navigating the unique challenges associated with heritage sites, including regulatory requirements and the need for sensitive restoration techniques.

Case Study
One of LAR’s largest projects valued at £3 million, took place over 24 months. LAR was tasked with refurbishing a Grade II* listed building located in the centre of Liverpool, originally constructed between 1924 and 1932. This building, set to become a major centre for HMRC, required meticulous attention to preserve its historical and architectural significance. The project involved navigating several challenges, such as adhering to restrictions due to the building’s listed status as well as managing high levels of asbestos contamination.
To address these challenges, LAR implemented specialised solutions, including the removal of contaminated Mechanical & Electrical services, engineering a scaffold enclosure over listed ceilings, and coordinating with heritage authorities for necessary approvals. Our efforts ensured the building was restored while maintaining its historical integrity, ready to serve its new purpose. The successful completion of this project highlights our commitment to quality and our ability to meet stringent regulatory and safety standards.
